Right off the bat, we can say that not all homes are going to be properly suited for home additions. We are not just talking about the way that an addition could totally wreck the initial design and idea that the builders had for the home. At times, your foundation is not built to be able to handle all sorts of extra weight that could essentially be put on by a home addition. With that in mind, we have to be clear on the fact that we are going to be exploring the viability of these projects from all angles!
Checking The Viability of The Project
There are actually two main aspects of this. First, we need to make sure that the original structure is going to be able to hold up if we add more weight. Also, we need to ensure that there are actually no legal ramifications to doing what you want to do. Things like making sure that we stay on your property and also ensuring that you are not going to have any types of issues with the city of the Homeowners’ Association where you live. Once we get the green light on both fronts then, we can really start thinking about what can actually be done!
How Much Can I Extend My Home?
One of the first things that people ask, us, or frankly should, is what the limitations of this service happen to be. There are a couple of things that are going to limit what you can or cannot do. We mentioned the weight, where your property starts or ends, and the other legal limitations. After those, there is really not much else that you would need to worry about. If the structure can hold up we can extend your home to the limit that is legally possible. Let’s just put it that way!
What Are Home Additions Made Out Of?
More often than not we are going to be building home additions in the same way that you would build a home on its own. With a wooden frame that is put together with insulating materials, drywall, and all that good stuff. Unless we are dealing with a home whose structure is different from the ones in homes that we are used to working in, the elements that we just described are essentially the ones that are going to be making up the addition.
Adding A Deck or A Balcony
Adding a deck or a balcony is not the typical type of addition that you may be thinking about. Yet, there are plenty of people that find this is a very effective way to extend their homes. Going back to what additions are actually made out of, in these cases plenty of things can vary, depending on what you want to build. We can build a wooden deck or balcony if you want us to use some other type of material that could be considered more durable we can look into that as well!
